The Paltrow Daily “Wellness” Routine Review

I am sure by now that many of you have heard about or watched the interview with Gwyneth Paltrow and her insane diet. However, if you haven’t please google or TikTok. Go watch and be horrified, irritated, and annoyed. You name it.

So let’s break down the interview piece by piece, shall we? First, she starts with an intermittent fast, except for coffee and probably her alkaline water with lemon juice added… have you all seen that meme… see below.

No matter how you feel about intermittent fasting (IF) it’s just reducing calories and making yourself insanely hungry for no reason. There is some research out there that talks about maybe improved insulin resistance while another study showed it exacerbated insulin resistance. So take your pick there. Also, most of the studies done on IF were done using animal models. I don’t hate the thought of IF. If it helps people adhere more to changing their lifestyle that benefits them. Go for it!  However, intermittent fasting is still just a diet and doesn’t teach proper nutrition.  Why can’t we just eat healthy vs following all these fads?

Next, she eats soup for lunch, but not just any soup BONE broth! I know I’m fully satisfied after a hearty bone broth (eye roll)….give me a break. One cup of bone broth is 86kcals, 6gm Protein (honestly more than I thought), 2.9gm of fat, and 8.5gm of carbohydrates. That would just give me energy for days (insert sarcasm). There is no proven research to show bone broth has added health benefits. In fact, an article I read said bones can carry heavy metals and could carry a risk of lead contamination. No thanks! Our generation was steered away from lead paint for a reason.

She then does 1 hour of movement. That’s great! I have no qualms with this. Except, if you starve yourself you won’t have the energy to do that 1-hour activity. Luckily, celebrities have 24 hours a day to do whatever they want. The average person, however, has a very different 24 hours.

She also mentioned she may do her Tracy Anderson. I had to look up who the hell that was and of course, the first thing that popped up was a damn diet. Ms. Anderson promotes a diet that is low carb, gluten-free (why if not necessary), lactose-free (again why), and an Alkaline-based diet (what a coincidence).  I just can’t with the stupidity of these people. I will go in-depth on the alkaline diet scam in another blog post.

Next, she talks about detoxifying her body with dry brushing (had to look that up), the sauna (which is probably in her luxurious home), and following a Paleo diet. What the hell does she have to detox for, the majority of her diet is air!

First things first people, you cannot detox your body with food. Your liver, kidneys, and breathing detox your body. I’m sure Qwenyth wants you all to buy her detox products for $1000 from her company, but know it does not work that way!!

Now don’t get me started on the paleo diet, a period of time with no nutritional significance and where people didn’t live as long. The average life expectancy was 35, according to that, I’m going to die very soon. Paleo also doesn’t allow grains, dairy, sweeteners, alcohol (made from grain people), salt, or potatoes (except sweet potatoes), and the meat has to be pasture fed (don't be feeding those cows grains now)!

Last, but likely not least she is promoting under eating which in our society I think we have celebrities and models doing enough damage to our youth. Why are we glamorizing under-eating which promotes eating disorders? We see it time and time again. Just because a celebrity does it doesn’t mean it’s correct or healthy.

At the end of this interview she talked about giving herself an IV full of vitamins, like that is a completely normal thing to do, privileged much. She needs those IV vitamins because she is literally starving herself daily.

Finally, let’s not take advice from a celebrity who sells a candle that smells like her vagina. Yep, I said it and she truly made it. I had to look it up to confirm and for those interested, it’s 75 dollars.
